About the karts
The championship offers drivers a chance to race in the our brand new fleet of karts. These Karts are 20kg lighter than the standard hire kart and have been fitted with new T2 GX160 engines, which means faster lap times and closer racing. Teesside Karting have 43 such karts, the championship will use a maximum of 35 per class, allowing for spares.
Who can enter the SG Petch Championship?
The championship is open to anyone 16 years and over. It is currently the North of England’s leading hire-kart sprint series, allowing new and experienced drivers the opportunity to compete in a low-cost, competitive championship, without need for capital outlay.
SG Petch and Teesside Karting are keen to promote racing talent in the region, and see this series as an ideal way to help achieve this. 2018 will be SG Petch's eighth season sponsoring the championship, and as each year passes, the series goes from strength to strength.
The championship is held at Teesside Autodrome over 7 rounds, with the best 5 rounds counting towards the final championship standings.
With natural progression through the classes drivers start off the series in the Rookie class which is divided in to four weight classes, to keep the price don there's no need to add ballast to your kart as we work out the classes based on your body weight, at the end of the season the top ten drivers will move up to the light and heavy classes in the sprint championship, don't worry we make more space in those classes by moving drivers up to the new for 2019 Pro class.
Price is £55 per round and a one off registration fee of £10 when booking the first round.
