Sg Petch Round 5 Race Report
Another exciting set of races today across all classes in the latest round of the SG Petch Championships.
The Heavyweight class started the day off and qualifying sae Liam Silkstone take top place ahead of current Championship leader Cameron McLean.
Heavyweight Class Race 1 saw Jamie Henderson take first place with Alan Lowes in second and Liam Silkstone in third place. The top 5 racers all came in with only 0.686 seconds splitting the pack. Alan Lowes recorded the fastest lap with a lap time of 1:20.641.
In Race 2, Paul White came in top spot, Liam Silkstone in second and Cameron McLean in third. Fifth place Liam Molden recorded the fastest lap with a time of 1:20.274.
This meant that Liam Silkstone took overall first place for the round, Cameron McLean in second and Jamie Henderson in third. This means that Liam has reduced Cameron McLeans lead by 15 points and the competition between the two grows as we head into the next round.
Next up was the Lightweight class. Having finished top in qualifying Adam Delmont went on to win Race 1 with Dave Oldacre slightly behind in second and Owen Burton in third. Fastest lap in Race 1 was 1:20.340 by Ashley Savidge.
In Race 2, Paul Clarke took fastest lap with a lap time of 1:20.317 on lap 6 and went on to win Race 2 with Andy O’Donnell in second and Robbie Low in third.
This meant that with race times so close, Adam Delmont took overall top spot for the Round with Robbie Lowe only 0:00.32 seconds behind in second place with Hamed in third place. This means that in the current overall points tally, Adam Delmont slips into first place with Owen Burton right on his heels and previous leader Ben Thornton in third place going into Round 6.
In the Rookie Class, Aaron Hubery took first place and fastest lap (1:20.702, lap 9) with Anthony Leather in second place and Robbie Thompson in third. This sees Aaron Hubery extend his lead in first place and Anthony Leather jumps into third. A great round overall with some exciting and highly competitive races throughout the classes and everyone is looking forward to Round 6 (Heavyweight & Lightweight) and Round 5 (Rookie) in September.
